Stays cold in Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires is on almost the same latitude as southern Spain but then on the Southern Hemisphere. So when they have a prognosis of cold air between 2 and 13 Celsius some of you may think that's not cold! The thermic sensation is much colder. Can even be below freezing. In Buenos Aires often also high humidity which doesn't help either. Most houses that i know of are not as air tight as we are used to in Europe. That is helpful in the hot summer days but in the winter it means you loose heat and it's much colder inside.

Then you have the problem of the energy crisis. When temperature drops demand of course grows for gas and electricity resulting in a shortage often and black outs are not uncommon. Hypothermia and also carbon monoxide poisoning claimed around 60 lives so far. The latter has to do with often poor maintenance of stoves. The first often are people who are homeless.

When i was there it was basically having the heater on downstairs day and night. Only turning it off when we all would go out. And upstairs where i worked an electric heater. And of course caloventors in the bathroom otherwise you'd die when coming out of the shower!

No, it's much better to be there in summer! Unless you can't bare heat very well.
