Massa sets Wednesday pace

Felipe Massa set the pace on the third day of testing this week at the Circuit de Catalunya near Barcelona. He took over at the top of the timesheets from team mate Raikkonen who led the field on Monday and Tuesday.

Massa covered over 100 laps in dry conditions, his best in 1m21.5s - 0.3s quicker than Mark Webber in the Red Bull. Toyota's Jarno Trulli was third, a further half-second adrift.

All eyes were on Fernando Alonso however, who covered 73 laps and continued to test McLaren's new three-element wing which debuted on Monday.

The excitement of the day, however, was all down to Nico Rosberg who destroyed his Williams car first thing in the morning which caused the team to cut its planned test short, as the car requires such substantial repair work at the factory.
