McLaren To Steal Brawn Away From Ferrari

Reports have suggested that the McLaren team is interested in stealing Ross Brawn away from Ferrari at the end of his sabbatical. Ferrari hope to have the strategy genius back in Maranello for 2008, though it has been suggested that Brawn will only return if he is with an English based squad.

Reports have suggested that the McLaren team is interested in stealing Ross Brawn away from Ferrari at the end of his one year sabbatical. Ferrari hope to have the strategy genius back in Maranello for 2008, though it has been suggested that Brawn will only return if he is with an English based squad. Germany's infamous Bild quoted an 'inside source' as saying:

"McLaren could offer a multitude of projects that Ross could lead."

Ferrari Team Principal Jean Todt however fired back, stating that Brawn had promised to try and work things out with Ferrari first:

"We agreed with him that should he decide to come back and remain in this business, he would come to me first to discuss it together. Maybe he does not want to be in racing. Maybe he wants to be in another part of competition, but we can discuss that."

So it would seem that if Ferrari really want Brawn to return and if he does as well, Ross would likely be taking over from Jean Todt as Team Principal. At McLaren, there is little doubt that the Briton would settle back into his Technical Director role. It is really up to him and as with everything else in Formula 1, only time will tell.
