Locutorios

A locutorio is basically a line of phone booths indoor as seen in the picture. They are quite common in Argentina. Although there is a good telephone grid and a booming cellphone business locutorios are still a widely used commodity in Argentina. You find locutorios anywhere. They are often combined with internet cafe's and or kiosko's. Most of the time they are sponsored by the large phone companies like Movistar (Telefonica) or Telecentro.

You ask to make a phone call, you are appointed a booth and after the call you pay.

Additionally you will find in many places separate phone booths and even pay phones on the most unlikely places. Both phones using cards and coins can be found.

In locutorios you can also buy cards for your cell phone most of the time.

Myself I've never used a locutorio to make a phone call. I have a cell phone and occasionally have used the separate pay phones on the street.
